Middle of nowhere

One of the great perks of my job is travel. Recently I was at rural Martinborough in the Wairarapa region for a couple of days. It was a great chance to take my camera and potter about a little. Single camera and lens for the trip – the Fuji X-T30ii with Viltrox 23mm f1.4.

It was an interesting drive over a really moody Rimutaka Hill. I couldn’t but stop at the top to take a few photos. Camera couldn’t quite capture the grandeur. I had to wait for a vehicle to pass by to show the relative scale.

I expected the second photo on Millars Road to turn out differently, taken with f1.4 during the day with a leaf shutter. I liked the natural vignetting though. The last photo at the Highwayman had an interesting flare. If I had better editing skills, I’d try to accentuate that.
